About
Anni Garza Lau is a media artist and researcher whose practice examines how emerging technologies transform the ways we perceive, inhabit, and negotiate the world. Through installations, interactive systems, artificial intelligence, bioart, speculative design, and digital media, her work investigates the political and affective dimensions of computational systems, asking how they shape identity, agency, memory, and the body.
For her, technology is not a neutral instrument but a cultural infrastructure that continuously produces new forms of behavior, knowledge, and power. Her projects often place audiences within technological systems that reveal the invisible processes through which emotions are quantified, bodies are classified, identities are inferred, and social relations are mediated by algorithms. Situated between artistic research, critical media practice, and embodied interaction, her work creates speculative situations through which alternative relationships with technology can be experienced, questioned, and reimagined.
In 2021, she co-founded Ghost Agency with Gro Sarauw, an artistic research practice that explores how art can foster social change through technological literacy, community, and the development of autonomous tools to resist digital surveillance. The project has received support from cultural institutions across Denmark, the Nordic region, and the United States.
